It has been a long time since I've posted anything here but I've been wanting to share this video introduced to me via radiolab for quite some time now. I'm just getting around to it today. I've probably watched this a hundred times in the past few years and I'm always moved by the beauty of this short film.

My Beloved Revolutionary Sweatheart

I’ve always been a bit of a music fan and in the old days I would get out to a show a few times each month. Now-a-days it is down to about once or maybe twice a year, and these are usually trips down memory lane to see bands that had their heyday back in the 70’s and 80’s. Cari-anne will usually come along with no idea who the act is. She is always surprised during the encore when the big hit is played and will say something like “Oh I know this song! They sing this?” A good example might be last year when Kansas played in our town. I told her I was interested in seeing them and she picked up the tickets as a surprise. Half way through the show they played Dust In The Wind and finished with Carry On Wayward Son. Of course she recognized the songs immediately and now when they come on the radio she realizes this is the band we saw at the Sherman Theater. Then she’ll add “What’s there name again? She is pretty good natured about indulging my music taste. It’s only when I get in the car after she has used it that I realize she ejected that awesome CD I had in the player for one of her own or the top 40 station. Happily some of my tastes have worn off on her. The best example is Camper Van Beethoven. Several years ago she hunted high and low for one of their CD’s to give to me for Christmas. For a long time they were know to her as “that band nobody has ever heard off,” but as time passed I was noticing that CD in the drive after Cari-anne had used the car and when I played it, she sang along to all of the songs. Just last week Camper was playing a show in NYC, featuring our collective favorite album “Key Lime Pie.” When I mentioned it to her I was delighted to hear her say Oh! Let’s Go! So we did. It was a great show and as advertised we saw the whole Key Lime Pie album live with a few older songs thrown in as well. Just in case you haven’t heard of “the band that nobody’s ever heard off,” Here is the video for Eye Of Fatima, pt 1.

****Happy 2011****

It has been a while since I've posted anything here. A long while. A year or more of running and famliy fun has gone by without me putting any of it down here. I'd like to get things up and going again. Since the new year is still quite young I'll start with this awsome display of fireworks from London.

Happy New Year!
